Children in Mongolia are growing up in a place where no child should ever be.
They live in makeshift homes in or near the city’s largest garbage dump. Their parents work here, collecting recyclables for income. The children spend their time here too — often working alongside their parents in this dangerous and highly toxic environment. Every year, children become disabled or even die when they fall off garbage trucks into the landfill.
Just down the hill from the garbage dump is the Red Stone School. This informal, two-room school provides children with an education as well as a free hot lunch — often their only meal that day.
Right now, these children’s families are experiencing even worse poverty than normal because of the pandemic. And so many children went hungry last year without free lunch when schools closed because of COVID-19. That’s why it’s more important than ever that these children return to school.
Your gift of $150 today will provide a year of education for a child at the Red Stone School, including supplies, books, a clean uniform, a warm coat and shoes, and a safe, warm place to learn.
You can also immediately change the life of a child and a family in the Red Stone community
by giving them a safe, traditional Mongolian home.
Your gift today will keep a child safe and healthy, and empower them to someday overcome poverty for good.
